Inversion can mean multiple things. Inverting the physical, or inverting the expectation.
In 'Inverted Botanicals', I began with a couple of abstract black curves that met in the middle of the canvas. When the left curve became somewhat of a plant form, it seemed only natural to me that the right become its reversed, or inverted, form.
In 'Oddly Orange', instead of a pleasant, standard, blue sky over the green hills below, I decided to go with blue's opposite on the color wheel, orange. It gives the viewer something more interesting to take in and decipher.
